This music was originally never meant for anyone else's ears but ours. However we liked what we did so much we decided to share it with you...
This cd was a catapult for us to get back into music. We started nameless in 1996 with the 2 tracks "Mr. Rabbit's Christmas Hat", and "The Intergalactic Groovalistic Erie Jive Epic Part One"(which Jon deeply apologizes for). After this we both ended up in a band that went no where which disbanded in 98(?) After this Jon joined a ska core band called The Smizokes and I (Tom) put my guitar to the side and became disgusted with music for a time.
Fast forward to the summer of 2000 when I get the urge to start a musical project. I put together the track "Old woman? Man!(The rantings of a 37 year old filth gatherer named Dennis.)" which is a Monty Python and The Holy Grail sample laden funky song. It was created using Acid Music 1.0. After putting the basics down from the loops in the program and the movie samples I decided to shell out some cash for a usb music interface for my computer. This was the greatest thing I have spent money on in a long time and is where DCK got it's breath of life. Jon came in and put some horns on "Old Woman?" and we liked it so much decided we wanted to do more.
We then went on to write "Billy's Ocean" named only for the one or two second sampling of a song by Billy Ocean (which was not even planned until we were flipping through the dish network radio stations to see what was on and all of a sudden we were struck with the idea to stick the mic up to the TV speaker and record a part of the song through it and yes I know this is a run on sentence).
Then came "Laptop Alien Interface Blues" a song that was originally suppose to be about the ridiculous thought in the film Independence Day that we could actually upload a virus from a computer into an alien computer system. But we could never think of lyrics to go with that so Jon just wrote some nonsense and we just kept the name.
I then got Jon to dig out the old tapes of the songs from 96. "Mr. Rabbit's Christmas Hat" has samples of the scene from Natural Born Killers where Mickey is being interviewed (listen to the song you will get the title). The "Intergalactic Groov..." just can not be explained.
We then decided to put all this out on the CD you see for sale here and go to work on a full length album that is now finished. It should be available by early summer.
Essentially we are a band that wants to do what we want. We do not want to be held to a specific genre at this time. If we were to describe ourselves it would be like this:
"If it makes a sound we will use it in song", and "We use all sorts of instruments that cost from 50cents up to the thousands to make our songs". That really does not fit this CD as much as our upcoming full-length CD but the basis is there.
Any way I hope you give us a chance and check our music out and like what you hear.
