Deviations is Frasca'a first recording since his critically exclaimed performance of Electric Guitar Phase on the Steve Reich/Kronos album Triple Quartet. This ground breaking solo guitar recording contains his hypnotic transcription of the Philip Glass classic Two Pages as well as pieces by gifted post minimalist composer Marc Mellits. Also contained on this recording are Frasca original compositions for solo 6 string guitar. With their rock sensibilities and classical structures Frasca pieces are as viscerally moving as they are musically interesting. Guitar fans will be amazed at the technical feats on this recording. When one listens to Frasca's solo performances of his highly original compositions in recording without seeing how the music is executed, with its vast array of textures, sounds, complex rhythms, timbers, and an awesome palette of innovative percussive effects, one becomes very easily convinced that on is listening to an ensemble of four musician and sometimes more. However, this enhanced CD contains video clips of Frasca playing several pieces allowing one to see first hand this amazing artist at work. Performed on both 6 string Nylon and a 10 string nylon/steel hybrid electro acoustic guitar, this state of the art recording captures the sound of the guitar as never heard before. Frasca uniquely designed instruments allow for a guitar sound that is expansive and at the same time acoustically natural. "Fans of classical minimalism, the hypnotic counterpoint of early 80's King Crimson, and the peerless techniques of the late Michael Hedges will find much to admire in his rich, propulsive, polyphonic works" Time Out New York

This disc is great for so many reasons. I've played it for every guitar player i know and the verdict is in. Dominic is the new standard of progressive thought and practice on the nylon stringed guitar. Amazing...just buy it and see!

Great album played by a great musician
author: Stefano Pezzuto
Dominic's technique is impressive. It seems like two or more guitarists are playing at the same time. That he plays his own music or music written by someone else, the result is in any case a pleasure to enjoy.
