Yoga Carols. They’re not just for Christmas anymore.
Greetings. My name is Donald Barsell. I have been a student of yoga for the past 35 years. My teacher is Swami Gurupremananda. His teacher was Baba Muktananda. I began writing these carols several years ago to add a little spice to our annual Christmas parties. We liked to sing carols but I wanted to update the lyrics to more closely reflect our yogic philosophy.
The songs have been inspired by many teachers, teachings, and traditions beside my own; including Jesus, Buddha, Rama, Krishna, Ramakrishna, Ramana Maharshi, Yogananda, Eckhart Tolle, Byron Katie, U.G. Krishnamurti, as well as various world scriptures. Therefore, no particular path is preferred over any other. I seek the universal truths and principles underlying the many paths to the Godhead.
One God created the birds and bees, mountains and trees. Likewise, one God created all men which is why they all function with the same passions, desires, physiology, and human needs. So how is that God to be realized in our lives? By allowing each thing to be the unique creation God made it. Life is sweet when we allow life to be as it is. I’m not suggesting I’m established in that place yet, but we’ve all experienced the perfection of life in moments of love and inspiration; in moments of surrender and acceptance of life “as it is.”
Thanks for listening to this CD. I hope it takes you to the place where you experience your own perfection. That (God) is perfect. This (world) is perfect. From the Perfect springs the perfect. If the perfect be taken from the Perfect, only the perfect remains. Namaste.
