It's a warm sensual tropical evening. You are sitting under a palm treesipping a Cuba Libre with the feeling that something magical is about to happen. The palm trees are swaying and you feel the tradewind onyour cheek and the warm sand under your toes as the waves of theCaribbean gently caress the beach.Inside the cafe a piano bass & drum trio are playing a romantic melody that creates a seductive feeling in the air. You soflty take your partner's hand and slow dance holding your loved one close as the two of you move almost motionlessly to the captivating rhythm of the Bolero, the music of the heart.Boleros are Latin songs of love and romance which originated in Santiago de Cuba during the last quarter of the 19th century. Some of the songs in this album are very old, and some have had English lyrics added to them as well as cha cha and salsa rhythms. Many have become very popular in the USA and worldwide. This album features 15 of the most requested boleros. I learned them while playing piano in clubs and lounges here on this enchantedIsland back in the 50's and 60's. I chose to record them as theysounded back then so that you could experience the feeling andauthenticity of that magical era of Latin music. This CD was inspired by Ruben Gonzales of the Buena Vista Social Club. From Puerto Rico with Love,Don Baaska
