This album is very unique starting in the Alt-Country genre and meandering through Jazzy, Rock n' Roll styles, Americana, & Folk. Sounds like Gram Parsons was driving down a old country road and picked up Bob Dylan and the Ryan Adams hitch-hiking.

Album Notes

Don Gallardo has played in numerous bands in California from Bluegrass to Rock N'Roll. He has opened for or been on the same bill as Peter Rowan, Yonder Mountain String Band, Rosanne Cash, & Joe Craven. His solo music style is Alt-Country which is a country that lacks the industry looks and cheap lyricsm. This is a country that Bob Dylan, Gram Parsons, Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, Neil Young, & Ryan Adams have used to their advantage. The songs are well crafted songs with stories of heartbreak, missed lovers, & loner outlaws.

The lyrics on this album are strong with great vocal harmonies. Each song has a different crop of musicians on it which shows the diversity of this singer/songwriter. With 12 songs listed and a hidden track it is well worth the price.

Don Gallardo now resides in Nashville, TN. You can find his new 2008 4 Song EP "Regards To The Season" at:

"This guy can lay down some tunes!"

..... It runs from very Country to Jazz, with stops in between, and it's darned good... this guy can lay down some tunes, and the album does show its a work of instrumentalists, rather than a technical and post tour-de-force as so many modern sounds are. If any of that sounds appealing, I recommend it. -Dan Lyke of Flutterby.com 2002

ISWM INDIE PICK OF THE MONTH: Fingers will snap and feet will tap!!!

ISWM INDIE PICK OF THE MONTH - (review)... THE CD: Tight snare work in the like of the Johnny Cash sound, slightly off-center metronome rhythms (probably induced by the reverb), sultry saxophone, and a myriad of refreshing guitar strumming patterns gives a well-balanced album full of surprises. Even though the harmonies are not perfect, it adds to the "live" band jive which only makes it more dimensional. WHY IT WAS SELECTED: Imperfections blended with moments of perfection take the sterility out of this production. Fingers will snap and feet will tap. SUMMARY: One of the few bands where the music is taken seriously, but not so seriously that the spontaneous chemistry between band members is lost for the sake of a record with no blemishes.
