Here you have the legendary songwriter/singer/entertainer, Don Chapel who has finally recorded some of his own compositions, instead of "selling" them to other recording artists, as he has done previously.
Several of Don's songs have been recorded by other country and rock artists like Tammy Wynette, Conway Twitty, David Houston, Jack Green,Jerry Lee Lewis, Charlie Louvin, Lynn Anderson, George Jones, Melba Montgomery, Webb Pierce, the Osborne Brothers, Ernest Tubb, Johnny Paycheck, Johnny Bush, Ray Price, and many others. Don is the brother of the late Jean Chapel, the "queen of rock-a-billy,. Don's songwriting mentor, and her daughter Lana Chapel, is also an excellent singer-songwriter-musician. Don's other sister, Minnie, recorded and performed with Bill Carlisle, plus the original trio work with sisters Jean and Martha, and Don is the father of country music star Donna Chapel (info@donnachapel.com), and brother of Martha Carson, the "first lady of country & gospel music, and was the first country musician husband of Tammy Wynette, (giving her that great "show" name), and getting her first recording contract with epic records, and producer Bill Sherrill.
This is the way it really happened, and there are literally thousands of people in Nashville and across the world, who know this to be so. Don Lloyd Chapel is his name, and he and daughter Donna Chapel were the other two-thirds of the Tammy Wynette road shows for the first two years, so Don and Donna Chapel were a vital part of her early success. Don was also her manager both in the studio and on the road, as well as band leader and leading male vocalist on the show, and she recorded several of his songs - 'TOGETHER WE STAND-DIVIDED WE FALL", JOEY, MY HEART IS SOAKIN' WET", ALL NIGHT LONG and there were others.
Now, you can finally hear the wonderful vocal stylings of Don as he sings twenty-five (25) original songs, thirteen of which were penned by him and a fourteenth that was co-written with son, Mike Chapel, another great multi-talented singer-musician-producer of the Chapel family.
Don has performed on the Grand Old Opry several times, and has taped many television appearances in Nashville, and across the country, in Canada and England, and was also a recording artist on epic records, as was Donna. You will hear unique vocals the like of which you can't compare to other singers, and you will be entertained with smooth country and country-pop love songs, plus four spiritual songs, and some traditional country songs.
