One Sunday afternoon, after an intense time of worship at Covenant Community Church of Navarre, Donna felt like she could sit at her keyboard and continue to worship the Lord for hours. When she shared this desire with her husband, Brad, he jokingly responded “I bet you won’t write a song”. Within 25 minutes, Donna had taken him up on that “bet” and had penned her first worship song “Speak to Me”. She was so excited to be used by the Lord in this way that within a week she had written her first praise song: “Blessed Trinity”. From then on, she has tried to be obedient to the Holy Spirit’s urging her to sit and write. Each song is written from her experiences in her walk with the Lord in hopes that other peoples’ lives will be blessed and encouraged by them. A few examples: “You Are There” was written at a time when she felt that God had abandoned her, but after reading His Word and praying, He gave her this song to share. “Freely” was written after she felt she had “missed the boat” and had failed to hear God correctly. After hours of weeping, God picked her up with this song. “Psalm 63” was on the back of her T-Shirt that had ‘Rockin’ for Jesus’ and a guitar on the front--amazingly enough, she had just started playing guitar and this was her first guitar written song! “Wonderfully Made”, from Psalm 139, came after God changed her life forever--showing her that all she has to ‘be’ is “Donna”--Daddy’s Little Princess.
The CD is a compilation of her first two years of writings and she prays that this is only the beginning!
