I recently saw Donnie sit in with Scott Boyer and the Decoys. The entire show was just off the hook! Hearing Donnie do a few songs motivated me to purchase "One Foot in the Groove" from CD Baby the very minute I got home that night! The album definitely has a "country" feel (the kind that doesn't suck! ;) ), but Donnie's stylings really go beyond that. The album also reminds me of vintage The Band stuff. Donnie's voice is all at once akin to Levon Helm, Randy Newman and the late Richard Manuel. The songwriting is just spectacular! If radio stations played the kind of stuff people want to hear (as opposed to the "promoted" artists stuff), I think "She's Got a Crush On Me" would be the C&W single of the year! I got to meet and chat with Donnie briefly after the show. I found him to be very sincere and kind. I talked with him at length about his work with the late, Eddie Hinton - another artist to check out on CD Baby!

One of my favorite albums of 2008.Donnie has one of those voices like Willie Nelson that captures humanity so well.Backed by musicians to die for,this album will make you smile.Thanks to Dan Penn for producing this gem,aint it about time you put out another album.

Some things grow old but never change. Mr Fritts keeps on having fun sharing it with the listeners. And it's still groovy after all these years!

Funky Donnie IS DA MAN!!! He's alwasy been one of my favorite songwriters, so this record does not surprise me. He eat up with soul. This record is vintage Fritts. So great to hear him recording again. Thanks Donnie for keeping one foot in the groove. Bless you, Brother.
