  • An Island of Peace and Relaxation
    author: Barbara Rosner

I bought this album just before heading to Santa Fe for an intense photography workshop. There was no t.v., telephone, or computer. But when I was in my car driving to photography locations, I could listen to Don's CD. It was beautiful, calming and relaxing…and added another dimension to my quest for a week of artistic inspiration.

A wonderful version of well known and loved tunes; brings back memories. Feels like home.

Spring... the season of lovers. Everywhere, new life is popping up, new possibilities show themselves, hope seems to be the norm. It's the arrival of twitterpation in all species. With perfect timing, Don Rice's album is the epitome of romance music that taps into this very mood and delivers such elegance, such rich, creamy musical phrasing that you may find yourself turning to the stranger next to you with batted eyelashes. Beautifully accompanied by a stunning combo, this pure saxophone album reminds us why we have such collective fantasies as being serenaded under our window at midnight; there is something inherently disarming, melting and suggestive about the sax- and if ever there was an album to highlight this quality, it's this one.

  • excellent cd with outstanding ballad standards

  • This is a fantastic CD you can't find these kind of sounds any more.

Great CD all the songs are great but lesser heard standards from the great American Song Book. Albums like this are far and few as record companies just don't put out this kind of instrumental music anymore. This album has a classic feel like from days gone by but with modern digital recording catching everything in clear shimmering stereo. All of the players on these cuts are first rate and it is a wonderful CD for relaxation, dinning, or just listening any time.
