Album Notes

Don't Die is Greg Marasso and Tom Mackerness.
A long long long time ago the two began to capture live recordings, original audio samples, and natural sounds, constantly stretching, tweaking, looping and remixing them into eclectic and mysterious soundscapes. With three CD releases in the past three years, these Northern California clowns have produced and recorded custom made electronic gypsy duets. Don't Die is always interested in performing at art shows and adding unique sounds to film and video. The album 'Like Dogs' is the second of three Don't Die albums.

Program Notes for LIKE DOGS:

1. Cacircus - pitch shifted drum beats;
marimba; clarinet; flute; electronic synth waves.

2. Trolls - tweaked broken rhythms over electro variations.

3. Talkative - tabla variation doubled,
looped and remixed; tom yells; steel drum melody.

4. Dely - regenerated warning alarm pulses.

5. Whiss - rs7 tweaky broken electro
drums; sampled marimba/vibraphone taken from sr. music
recital piece and then morphed into a theme and
variation.

6. Doo Wop - obsessive melodic loop.

7. Trip Gig - piano and violin sample
taken from another college sr recital piece and
resampled into a new theme; organ melodies and tweaky
blips played in a humid practice room sometime around 4:30am in San Francisco's tenderloin.

8. Birdy - looped electronic craziness carefully
triggered, mangled and then re-looped again;
street cleaner type simulations added to tickle your ears.

9. Floaters - electronic pulses modulating into dreamy melodic dizziness.

10. Hornsgy - bouncy looped grooves, resampled; electro flute melodies.

11. Pistol - rhythms created with a
cymbal struck with soft mallets and hands looped then
relooped; stage organ performs with missing keys
creating disconnected melodies.

12. Rerun - sampled drum set beat
lowered; 4 part violin theme; freaky synth lines
scattered and recorded after 3am.

13. Thinkers - consistent synthy march;
droning monglian style throaty sounds with
electronics; listen clostly to background noises
stripped and tweaked throughout.
