There are times when even the non-religious get religion.
It was late, and Don Walsh was very upset! His girlfriend had decided to stay the night at the hospital with her ailing mother - it might be her last chance to be with her in this world.Don returned to the tiny apartment they shared (life in a punk band doesn't pay well - even for the infamous leader of the legendary RUSTED SHUT), and paced about restlessly. He called and left long messages on his friends voicemails as the vodka took it's toll...Eventually settling down, and settling in with his guitar, Don took his girlfriend's old antique Baptist hymnal off the shelf. It had been in her family for years, but he had never opened it before. What happened next was a surprise to Don, his girlfriend, and everyone who knows him. Even if just for a moment, Don was divinely inspired, and tore through those hymns with a lot of soul and, yes, religion. Not knowing the melodies, Don made up his own.Thank goodness he turned on his tape recorder, because we can all share these inspired arrangement of those classic hymns!
