Don Worden was born on January 23, 1943 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.
Blessed with a love of music and a good memory, he was always singing songs around the house, learned from the radio. When he was a teen-ager, his father taught him the joy of the guitar, and he has seldom been without one since. In the mid-1960’s, he played in coffee-houses, sang at house parties and lounges, and started writing his own songs. The song-writing has been the focus of the past three decades, while his performing has been kept to a selection of family and friends.
Although the roots of this project are firmly embedded in the soil of support from those good people, the impetus can be attributed to his daughter-in-law, Marie. The idea of performing again and leading an old-fashioned “hootenanny” at a large gathering to celebrate his grand-son’s university graduation came from her.
Encouraged by The warmth of the reception to his performance, Don was inspired to delve into his old cassettes (saved from extinction by his youngest daughter, Shari), write a couple of new songs, and record them.
This led to Diamond Gem Studios and Jimm Davis, who supported the project through to completion.
Don has lived and worked in 6 of Canada’s provinces and more than 7 countries around the world. After 7 years in the Persian Gulf, he settled in Houston, Texas in 2006, where he currently resides.
