Album Notes

The year was 1989, Big Daddy Kane's "Smooth Operator"and the D.O.C.'s "It's Funky Enough"were playing all over KDAY and Yo Mtv Raps.In those days emerged a rare new breed of mc's from Los Angeles, young chicano rappers.Attempting to enter the rap game at all costs were two graffiti writers from San Gabriel Valley(El Monte)zone who decided one day to start writing rap lyrics for fun.Eventually the fun became serious and in 1990 the D.O.P.E Mob was born.
Originally D.O.P.E stood for Devestating Other Poets Effectivly Mob,as time changed it became known as the Doped Out Psychopathic Entertainers Mob.Knowing dues had to be paid first the D.O.P.E Mob rocked many underground talent and car shows to create a buzz in L.A. and throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Soon after they released their first cassette single,"Valley of Death"and were the featured artists on John London's "House Party" on what was then 92.3 the Beat. They recieved rave reviews and were deemed young chicano superstars on the rise!
But,during the early 90's when the streets of Los Angeles were still going insane, many young Hispanics and Blacks were getting caught up in the gang lifestyle and many had lost their lives.Including three members of the D.O.P.E Mob.This and many other misfortunate events have set the D.O.P.E Mob back but still has never crushed their dreams. In 2003,along with underground producer KonFushuz Mindz the D.O.P.E Mob regrouped and set out to finish what they've started,to hit the streets with raw underground west coast hip hop from a brown man's point of view.Rappers:Drastic One and Wicked Triggs hold you down with pure 100 percent "Rhyme Narcotics" for the masses.Whatever you do,don't sleep on the D.O.P.E Mob,they've been paying dues and are not your average latino rap group. Hard beats and rhymes still matter. That's why the D.O.P.E Mob has arrived once again to keep that real hip hop alive.
