STEVE DORFF Biography

Industry observers have dubbed multiple award winning Steve Dorff an enigma who has evolved into a gifted composer in every musical field. There is no way to bag the diversity he regularly displays scoring major motion pictures, television, theater, or via an array of #1 hit songs. In addition to winning the NSAI Songwriter of the Year award, Dorff has also been honored with more than 40 BMI, and 11 Billboard #1 awards.

His was a formidable breakthrough, accelerated through a highly productive association with legendary Clint Eastwood, beginning with "Every Which Way But Loose". This out-of-the-box Smash soon paved the way for a raft of compositions reflecting all musical genres, from contemporary today sounds to haunting orchestral melodies.

Three-time Grammy nominee and a fixture on the nation's charts, his dossier includes nine #1 film songs and 15 Top 10 hits, including the Kenny Rogers' classic "Through The Years", a BMI 3 million performance song, as well as "I Just Fall In Love Again", the Anne Murray record that captured Billboard's #1 Song Of The Year honors. His many songs have been sung by some of the greatest artists of our time, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, George Strait, Vanessa Williams, and countless others.

Emmy Nominee for five television compositions, his credits are exemplary and include such stalwarts as "Murphy Brown" and "Murder She Wrote". You'll also find his name on evergreens like "Growing Pains", "Alien Nation", "Spenser for Hire", "Major Dad", "Columbo", and last year's break-out hit "Reba".

His many TV and Cable movie credits include the Hallmark Hall of Fame "Rose Hill', the animated Christmas Classic "Annabelle's Wish", "Babe Ruth", "The Quick and The Dead", "Moonshine Highway", and "The Defiant Ones".

Dorff's many Movie songs and scores have been featured in "Bronco Billy", "Blast From The Past", "Rocky IV", "Pure Country", "Tin Cup", "Michael", "Dudley Do Right", "Dancer, Texas", "The Last Boyscout", "Curly Sue", and "Honky Tonk Man".

Perhaps Dorff's most ambitious move to date has been a giant leap into his first love, the Musical Theater. He currently has 3 projects making their way to the stage, "Say Goodnight" (The love story of George Burns & Gracie Allen), "Heartland" (The stage version of "Pure Country), and "Josephine" (The Josephine Baker Story).

Fan-tastic!

I find this cd incredibly interesting. It displays the writer's vision of the songs he creates. If you don't get sucked into a "vocal competition" mindset as you listen, considering the star power that have recorded his writings over the years, you will discover the true brilliance of Steve Dorff. This cd is perfectly titled. As writers, many of us only dream of what he has already accomplished.

Heartfelt...Makes Love Feel Timeless...Sentimental...Unabashedly Romantic

It would be impossible to extoll the virtues of this CD without crediting the heart and soul of the music...Steve Dorff. He poignantly captures the simple beauty of the love a father longs to share with his unborn children in "I Want A Son". I wept when I heard "I Cross My Heart" because it describes a love so infinite and unconditional that it almost transports you to another time and place. The music does take one's dreams and makes them come alive. Not only does the music take your breath away, it leaves you feeling special long after the melodies end. Musical serendipity...powerfully moving and wonderfully satisfying.

Sentimental and sincere

Steve Dorff has written some amazing melodies. He sings some of them here with his heart on his sleeve. My particular favorite of his is the final track. Miracle. The song Miracle is the title for Celine Dion's newest cd and both versions are beautifully done. I just love hearing how Steve as the songwriter intended the song to be interpreted. I especially love the expressive keyboards on this cd. The arrangements are polished and lovely; his voice is genuine and each track is heartfelt. Highly recommended.
