Excellent album
author: David Jackson
This is an outstanding album by any standards, so it is even more surprising that it's her first. The lyrics are intelligent, the arrangements atmospheric and it reveals more (rather than less) with repeated plays. I'm really impressed.

that voice!
author: Rusty Sharpedge
Discovered this album while browsing cdbaby. Never heard of Dorie Colangelo before. I can't get over how powerful and evocative Dorie's singing is. So emotionally rich she makes Norah Jones sound like Elmer Fudd (and I like Norah Jones!) The songs themselves are strong enough and the production is appropriately understated and tasteful. It's the voice, however, that makes this album stand out over so many others.

Stunning
author: Chelsea Genzano
Not only is Dorie herself a stunning woman, she also creates beautiful music. Her heart-wrenching yet simple honesty is captivating, combined with a smokey voice like incense in the morning sunlight and unforgettable melodies. You must own this album!!
