Introducing Dorothy J. Colon
Dorothy Colon, born in Mississippi and reared in Queens, New York City, is a lover of God's music in all forms. She grew up in the COGIC singing in the choir, Memphis Convocations, UNAC, and local church functions. Her love for music opened her up to all styles, traditional, contemporary, country, & Rhythm & Blues. Known though out the church community for her traditional, tambourine beating, foot stomping styles, this cd is truly a departure from a familiar turf. Dorothy invites you into her intimate time with the Lord. No fancy vocals, just pure, smooth melody clear lyrics, and a powerful message.
Dorothy has had the pleasure of singing with many of her favorite artist which include; Timothy Wright, Tramaine Hawkins, and the Clark Sisters. Her Musical influencers are Tramaine Hawkins, CeCe Winans, Roberta Flak, Anita Baker, Vanessa Williams, Dorinka Clarke Cole, the Clark Sisters, Sandra Huff, Leo Colon,Inez Andrews,Richard Hartley and Donnie McClurkin.
After losing her little girl in childbirth Dorothy emerged to thank God for sparing her life. Her husband, Leo Colon whose musical career includes musician and music director for Grammy nominated Vanessa Williams, Anita Baker, Chaka, Pattie Austin, BeBe Winans, and countless others dedicated themselves to the expression of God's faithfulness in all. Dorothy has dedicated her cd to her Mother "Doris Ade' because it was her mother’s intervention on Mother’s Day that saved her life.
