With deeply mystical lyrics, traditional instrumentation, including saz, oud, hand rum (bendir), and ney flute, these songs could be sung in contemporary Sufi tekkyes (lodges) by groups of dervishes. They have the feeling of intimate devotion and could just as well be of the Renaissance.
