Album Notes

Double Plow was born in 2007 when Jimmy James Norris (well known in blues, rock, and gospel circles around Indianapolis) moved to the dusty, desert town of Albuquerque to make music with his brother, Dwayne “Buzzard” Norris. They enlisted long-time friend Mike "Moses" Montoya on bass and together, these artists have forged a Southern-fried jam band built on solid songwriting, danceable grooves, and guitar-thick licks. Double Plow has begun to see a good measure of success by marrying their interpretation of the hippy Southwest and the flowers of the Southeast- Delta blues and country/bluegrass. There is only one way to describe their sound: pure rock and roll.... no adjectives, hyphens or qualifiers needed.

I had just polished off a spliff and a few beers and I put this CD in. Needless to say I added this CD to my current daily regiment of the aforementioned festivities.

Satisfied and hungry for more

If you like to feed your rock and roll hunger with juicy guitar chops well-done, you’ll be hard pressed to find tastier licks than those served up by Jimmie James Norris on this CD. Time after time, when one course ends and you think you’ve had your fill, he sends out another offering that stimulates your craving for more. Perfectly complimenting these delicious aural flavors is the southern spice and texture of lyrics and voice by Norris’s brother, Dwayne. His stories are salty, sweet, and bitter at times. Hopefully, these two will remain together in the sonic kitchen concocting more and more of their satisfying rock and roll stew.

Double Plow Sound

Double Plow is one of those bands who is great to see live! Their new album Where The Moon Always Shines gives you that classic sensation of days way back when that live rock concert feeling when it was all about the music, but with a modern twist. The Song Cotton Woods is a good selection of that developed Double Plow sound. My favorite song is PO'FOLKS. This song resonates a relatable feeling that our society holds. SOBER UP a good time song that nails what you are thinking when you are in that, “happy moment,” in life. You just want that feeling to last. Sometimes life can get hectic and this song can let you escape to that feeling even just for a moment. I enjoy hearing this whole CD while doing things around the house, working in my garage, and driving on long trips. The energy of the music keeps me going and I am sure it will get to you to.

Rock and Roll. Country. Dirty guitars. This album is awesome. Double Plow never disappoints with their inspiring hooks. It's like a freight train that just keeps chugging. This album is highly recommended.
