I am primarily a cartoonist and animator who has worked for Warner Bros, Nickelodeon, Disney TV and Ralph Bakshi to name a few. Before I got into the animation business however, way back in the early 70s I lived a vagabond existence, hitch-hiking across America several times and working where I could find it. It was during this time that I wrote the songs on this album. You might call it a "road album". The title, "Miracle Trail", refers to the road itself, where you put yourself into the hands of fate and count on your good karma to protect you from harm. In my experience, whenever things began to look really bleak a miracle would happen to pull me out of the jaws of disaster.
The songs were worked out some in my head, some on guitar and, over a period of several decades and finessed until finally in 2004 I acquired the software, equipment and instruments to finally record them. There is much inspiration and even some phrases, musical and lyrical, lifted from other pop songs of that era, all recorded and played using guitars, drums, keyboards and harmonica by me using multiple tracks. The vocals too are all by me, including backup harmonies. The songs are in different styles, ranging from hard rock to soft pop, country, dance and blues.
