Album Notes

Doug Haywood has currently finished his newest solo album, "In These Rooms." These new songs are performed in Doug's unique acoustic/rock style which shows his flawless guitar technique and beautiful tenor voice against a backdrop of imaginative and always appropriate musical arrangements.

There are a couple of older songs which Doug wrote included here as well. "Don't Lead Me On" was originally recorded by Jennifer Warnes on her album, "Right Time Of The Night." It was also recorded by others including Mason Williams and The Dillards. This is Doug's definitive version here for the first time.

"Ding Dong Howdy" is a children's song which Doug wrote many years ago. It has been recorded by 20 other artists, including the Surry Australian Children's Choir and The Dillards.

Doug's songs have also been recorded by Juice Newton, Jerry Reed, John Hartford, David Lindley, and others. "If It Ain't Love By Now", co-written with Jeff Barry was placed onto Billboard's Top Ten Country Chart by Jim Ed Brown and Helen Cornelious. "Christmas Lullaby", co-written with Jack Tempchin, was released on Mason Williams' beautiful acoustic Christmas album, "A Gift Of Song."

Doug's list of credits as an instumental accompanist/singer is an extensive, impressive one. He has played, sung, recorded, and/or performed on stage with numerous folk, country, and rock dignitaries including Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon, George Harrison, Elton John, Danny O'Keefe, The Doobie Brothers, Bonnie Raitt, and Willie Nelson, just to name a few.

In his present career as a performing singer/songwriter, Doug has performed at large and small venues across America (and soon the U.K. and Australia.) Doug has recently opened shows for Little Feat, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, David Lindley, and Suzy Bogguss.

in these rooms is a wonderful collection of beautifully written and performed songs. doug haywood's inimitable sense of melody combined with his warm rich vocals and the occaisionally sardonic perspective from which he crafts the lyrics make this a real treat to listen to. track 4 - LA's Gonna Come To You is a seductive but cautionary tale about the malignant spread of the big city (in this case LA). so check it out. you'll be glad you did!
