Album Notes

Doug Howell is a singer-songwriter based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Raised on a farm in mid-Michigan, he went to the University of Michigan, majored in music composition, and got involved in Youth for Christ and other Christian groups. He performed with New Jerusalem for a couple of years, then joined Good News Circle, a singing group based in Elgin, Illinois. After traveling the US and recording an album with GNC, Doug left the group and began performing solo. He traveled all over the US, mainly in the midwest, singing in many college concert halls, coffee houses and churches, and produced five solo albums during this period. He settled in Ann Arbor again in 1979.

The fourth album, \"Songs from Hannah Hurnard\'s Classic Hinds\' Feet on High Places,\" was recorded just before Christmas, 1982, in London, England, at Abbey Road studios. It is based on the popular Christian allegory, and was released with the cooperation of Tyndale House Publishers. The orchestral arrangements were performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (Doug conducting). This represented a departure in style, but became the best selling of Doug\'s albums, and still speaks to old and new listeners alike.

Around the time the Truth album was released, he began to get more involved in studio writing, arranging and performing. He participated in many TV and radio ads and soundtracks for sporting events, such as the NCAA basketball finals theme. Besides arranging and performing on many custom recording projects, he also composed music for about a dozen children\'s \'animated storybook\' CD-ROMs including Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, Lamb Chop Loves Music, and others.

Lately, Doug has been working on releasing his previous albums on CD, a project for teaching music to cochlear implant recipients and a soundtrack for his nephew\'s magic act in London. He is planning to record more of his music as well as making more of it available on sheet music. See his Web site, creativemeasures.com, for more details.

Thanks for listening!
