Infused with classic rockabilly, bluegrass and a hint of blues, Love in Disguise will keep you guessing what's next while you're singing along. It's a diverse blend of styles steeped in melody—you're swinging to the beat one song, and the next your arms are wrapped around a partner, slow dancing to a soulful song about how "Love is a Game". Despite this being Doug Wilshire's first solo effort—with a little help from his pals The Capers—he certainly has started his solo career off on the right foot.
Wilshire was only 17 when he set out on his own among the Pub and Club scene of Australia. For 20 years he had been a steady there, until a few years ago when his band the Chrome Daddies came to the attention of Rhythm Bomb Records in Berlin. After a successful tour and a handful of live and studio albums, the idea for a solo album came to Wilshire, the band's main songwriter.
With a team consisting of Axel Praefcke and Ike Stoye, it took just over two weeks at the Rhythm Bomb Studios to record this excellent collection. Making his way from Toronto, Canada to Australia to the recording studios of Germany, Wilshire's debut this needs to make its way into your CD player.
Getting a rowdy start with "Seven Questions" will put the beat in your hips and hot steps in your feet. It's an upbeat melody about where your woman might be and who she ran off with—a classic theme that carries throughout the whole CD. Backing band The Capers keep the rhythm tight and give Love in Disguise a continuous flow that makes it impossible to turn off. Each song is so uniquely appealing you grow to love each one. There isn't a song you should skip. Its almost impossible not to be "Tempted" to fall in love with Doug Wilshire and the Capers.

What a mix! And all originals! Where has this guy been hiding? The Ballads are so sad, and the up-tempo stuff blows me away! Fantastic guitar work, and the recording quality is classic old school! My favourites are 7 Questions, Love in Disguise, and Long Gone Baby. Look out Wayne Hancock! One of the Best albums this year!
