Let see twelve songs all original.Extra sexy hot harp,to die for lyrics, great guitar and vocals.Presented in a non-cluttered bare bones style.Really needs 6 STARS.I love how Dov uses the upper harp case often and even starting on that end, yet making it all sound so nice.I would love to hear dov use a harmonic minor harp to play some jewish folk, traditional or original.A good man for the job.

I enjoyed this album from start to finish, I think you will too...

Over the years, I have watched Dov develop constantly as a musician - first as a good harmonica player, then as a songwriter, performer and singer. But I think this past year has seen the most intense growth in Dov's talents, in particular his singing skill and the complexity and virtuosity of his harmonica playing. The new acoustic blues CD "Going Deep" may be seen as the culmination of this artistic growth.
Together with the tasty guitar talents of Ronnie Katz (also a Ted Cooper Band alumnus) who recorded and co-produced the album, Dov Hammer presents us with 12 original songs that display a mature songwriting style, harmonica virtuosity, and some damn fine singing.
The songs range in musical style from country blues to ballad, gospel and even folk-bluegrass. Up tempo songs like "Secret Smile", "Stranger", and "Holding On" are contrasted with the slow ballad-style "Sweet Blues", and the folky bluegrass tinged "Silver Dollar" and "Her Love Is Like A Rock", while "Evil Ways", "Move A Little Closer", and "Big Little Woman" offer syncopated stop-beat rhythms. Musical friends Danny Zuckerman and Assaf "Sweettooth"Rozov (another Ted Cooper alumnus) add guitar accompaniements and Hillel Mogel contributes a completely unexpected banjo accompaniement to the album.
If I had to pick only two songs as "singles" for a radio playlist, I would choose "Keep On Searching" for its timeless lyrics and classic gospel feel, and "Evil Ways" for the catchy guitar riff, the classic Chicago harmonica sound, and the humerous lyrics.
I enjoyed this album from start to finish, I think you will too...

This is a fantastic album. Unique, original and totally the blues. Dov and friends manage to stay faithfull to the blues tradition whilst injecting a healthy dose of modern song writing. It covers a wide emotional range yet stays focused and on course. It's a must have!
