Downcaste : Five Years

A blend of melodies mixed with Beatlesque lyrics, Weezerish fuzz, and Nirvana powerchords. Although not proven by scientists, it is believed that Downcaste's music is enjoyed best after seeing Muppets On Ice while drinking blue Hawaiian Punch.

REVIEWS

Solid first album. Looking forward to major label debut.

Downcaste seem to blend the elements of Weezer, Nirvana, and The Beatles into a distinct sound of their very own. Although it is a well done effort, one can only imagiine how it would sound if they were given major label backing instead of these useless no-talents that flood the FM airwaves.

Terrific first record, awaiting future releases
author: Tanner Jameson
From the opening chords of Breathe to the final melodies of Clovers, Five Years blows away all expectations of this South Jersey product. The intensity of Eradicate and Why I Even Try are two of the most telling tracks on the disc, and are even more realized in their intensely electric live show. Highly recommended to fans of eclectic modern rock & roll. Jump on the bandwagon now before you are the last to join...

Where did these guys come from and where have they been?!!
author: Tom Carter
Five Years, Downcaste's debut release, is nothing short of a masterpiece! The album combines reflective lyrics with beautifully executed guitar riffs and powerful drumming. Among the highlights is the brooding "Everyone I Know," reminiscent of the Rolling Stones at their best, and the ultra-intense "Eradicate," a straight-ahead, no holds barred rocker. The sophisticated musicianship this record displays is rare in contemporary rock, and should not be passed over without an appreciative sigh of relief-finally a band that fondly remembers the days before music equalled synchronized dance steps and nauseating synthesized drum beats! My only hope now is that they tour the New York area soon so I can see their act in person.
