This SMILE will undoubtedly touch the heart of any listener who encounters its collection of inspirational performances from the superb jazz pianist David Priest. All but the title track (the sole original contribution)are some of this genre's finest classics. The proof is in the playing. Album highlights include 'Stella By Starlight', the title track and Rodgers and Hammerstein's 'This Nearly Was Mine', the latter culminating in a magnificent, three-fold interpretation. It is very rare to hear an artist who successfully combines technical brilliance with heart-felt musicality. Priest, however, is one such artist.
