Album Notes

Sometime last winter I thought that it might be a fun thing - to have a tangible souvenir from these shows that Julie Beaver and I have been doing in recent years. So I called Julie, booked a night at Coalesce and persuaded hootmeister Steve See to MC. I asked Rick Sutton to bring his remote recording gear, and invited a few friends and fans to play audience. A few days before the event a friend suggested I set up a video camera for the people that had never been able to see us perform. I called Julie's dad, Paul, knowing the video he'd already shot of his daughter would fill a small library. I asked him to bring his camera to the show. He brought five. What you have in your hands, be it CD or DVD, is most of what happened that night. We hope you enjoy it.

I have loved the tune about Mr Schwinn for many years. To see Daryll sing it was awesome. It may be the best song ever. This DVD is like having a concert in my living room. So glad Our paths crossed and I can enjoy this almost live concert whenever I wish. Thanks cdbaby!

Now, when pining for the Darryl Purpose experience, we don't have to drive 4-6 hours to catch him on the East coast. Of course we'll still make the drive to see one of favorite storytellers, not matter what the distance, but now we can plop the DVD in whenever we need a fix! It's wonderful! This DVD is a virtual "Greatest Hits" plus some unbelievable new material. Excellent quality in both video and audio. Kudos to the audio/video techs!

A treat for the ears, eyes and even the heart!

This DVD is the next best thing to seeing Darryl Purpose live! Darryl's song writing is wonderful and he has such great stage presence. His stories are so engaging and the way he puts music to them is really moving. We've loved his live shows in California, but it's been awhile and we've missed him. We'd heard Julie on his CD's,(which are all great,) but we hadn't seen her perform with him before. She adds so much with her beautiful fiddle and strong voice. It was really a pleasure to kick back and enjoy this show!

Was worth waiting for

Been a fan of Darryl's for several years already and was hoping that he would make a "live" show available for all of us poor folks who don't live near areas where he usually performs. This DVD does not disappoint. Some of his best songs are represented here, and I ws so happy that he included an unavailable Dave Carter song called "Red". Was not familiar with Julie Beaver before this but she complimented Darryl well with her fiddle and harmony vocals.
