notes
Forget everything you know about the singer/songwriter genre. On PATCHWORK, Draper gently swirls through eleven new songs of depth and sophistication far beyond her years. Producer Kramer (Urge Overkill, Galaxy 500, Low, King Missle) has woven a profound, sparse sound, placing Draper's evocative vocals right up front where they belong. Acoustic and bass guitar lines ebb and flow, while gentle drums and tickling piano provide irresistible intensity. The gossamer threads of sound compliment Draper's lyrics, which are lullaby-like in their warmth and directness.
Linda Draper left a childhood in the church choir with deep impressions and striking recollections. Her teenaged and college years found her exploring music (performing at Renaissance Faires, attending a music conservatory) while searching for her own self- expression. On PATCHWORK, her quiet sense of accomplishment will zing straight to your soul, because it originates in hers.

She Delivers Her songs Perfectly
author: Gary KayThis CD is quality - full of quality from start to finish. The songs are razor sharp, well crafted and refined. There's not a word too many or a word too few in any of the songs. They are well written, they flow beautifully, and unlike so many songs I hear to day, they are not self-concious or apologetic. The record is well produced also. Linda has a cool, detatched voice, that seems to portay a vulnerable, yet strong, invincible character, and with it she delivers her songs perfectly. Linda sings with honesty and courage about her extraordinary experiences. Each song is memorable from the first listen, and I've looked forward to receiving my copy ever since I heard some of the tracks at CD Baby. Thankfully I didn't have to wait long, and I've hardly listened to anything else since it arrived. I feel this is an album I shan't tire of easily - if ever !
A voice that draws you in and whisks you away
author: Hugh, CaliforniaThis is an excellent C.D. by a gifted artist. Linda's voice is unique. It draws you into her songs and whisks you away. 'Patchwork' has subtle and imaginative production that always goes with the flow, the feel of the songs. Her lyrics can be conversational and direct and then be also powerfully metaphoric. "...dangling from the skeleton tree, miles beneath the seasick weeds" from her song 'The Sleeping Giant' is an example of her great use of lyrical metaphors. Another strength of Linda's songs is her guitar sound which has a lot of character. She plays guitar very effectively and dynamically throughtout all the songs. This is quality music from a quality artist.

Producer Kramer (Urge Overkill, Galaxie 500) opted for an understated, unadorned sound for the simple, basic songs of anti-folk singer-songwriter Linda Draper. This works very well for Linda, who has clear and uncluttered delivery that needs no extra help. Her quickly strummed but hardly stated chords snap along with a regular, locomotion rhythm. This percolating guitar work removes anything haunting from these sparse songs, making them instead brightly delivered, witty observations from a former church choir soloist.
Artists like Linda Draper step outside of the box we allow society to convenient
author: INDIE JOURNALArtists like Linda Draper step outside the box we allow society to conveniently put us in. In a world that could use more song and dance, she believes in romanticism and an introspective take on life-on-life's terms. You will get a look through eyes that see the world for what it is. Her visions come to life through her voice and guitar.
Good old fashioned folk/pop
author: Collected Sounds - A Guide to Women in MusicLinda Draper has an interesting voice, and I mean that in a good way. Her voice is a little swoopy; a style that usually doesn't appeal to me but in her case is very lovely. Probably because she doesn't overdue it. It's clear and strong and a great fit for the music; which is simple guitar strumming well-composed melodies. If you're looking for old school pop/folk, check out Linda Draper. (please see above link for full review)
Draper's words and music are evocative and her voice is a thing of beauty.
author: Muzikman (Associate Writer)With music having wisdom beyond its years and both a lightness and depth in every tune, listeners will find absoluteness in this listening experience. That is a rare thing in music, or anything else for that matter. This album succeeds in its goal to touch you in a way that you will remember. You will be reaching for it again to relive the experience and you will invariably hear something else you did not hear the first time. To me that is what a good album is supposed to do.
