Album Notes

Review from Cascade Blues Association--

The opening cut on this CD is a bit scary. Just when you get relaxed and the first few second's spin out, you will sit up, alert, and say "Hey!" and grab the CD case to see the liner notes. Surely there's some mistake ...this is WHO?

The first tune on this CD sounds like, well, like B.B. King's "bad" little brother. Drawback Slim isn't anybody's "little" anything. This newest CD is a really cool surprise!

Those familiar with his work will enjoy wallowing in the sensation of "being right", as in "I knew he was that good." Finally there are some cuts out that do him justice. Included are some previously released tunes, such as "Crepe Suizette".

If you have heard Drawback Slim sing, you may miss the soft velvety quality in his previous vocal style. But this new thing he's doing really tears into it. It's, like, okay, we've been polite all this time, now stand back! The new CD is getting a lot of airplay nationally which includes Portland radio stations. Slim has written some new material, and does justice to all the tunes on this recording.

This reviewer knows that when a person starts repeating themselves, the point has been made. In this age of virtual reality. digital processing, clones, and more, Drawback Slim and his all-star lineup of cohorts in music renew our faith in live music, all guts, Blues to the bone.

Get "Wild West"! And, thanks for listening.

Excellent musicians with a passion for the music equals one fantastic CD!

All of the musicians have done an incredible job, particularly the harp and guitar playing on Hootchie Cootchie Man. The keyboards, drums, guitar, harp and the terrific vocals throughout combined with the musicians' apparent passion for the music have made this one of my all-time favorites.
