Album Notes

Dr Breeze is Wilk McKean, born and raised in New Orleans, he grew up with the sounds of Dixieland jazz, rhythym and blues and pop. At the age of nine, his grandfather bought him a trumpet and he learned the basics of music hoping to be the next Al Hirt. In 1964, his life changed forever when he heard The Beatles on the radio. He bought his first guitar and like the song said "played until his fingers bled." He was playing his first professional gigs by the age of fifteen, and by the time he was legal to be in clubs, he had already played his share of them. He played in groups with names like The Shadows of Eternity, Potter's Field and Bayou. During this time, he also had the opportunity to work as a vocalist in some of the area's top recording studios, as well as compiling a nice collection of original music. He also wrote a couple of radio jingles.

In 1979, he helped form a group called Flite. This group was a very popular musical force on the north shore of Lake Ponchartrain until the tragic loss of drummer and friend Kevin Frere in the summer of 2005. He stayed with Flite playing numerous venues including clubs, weddings, private parties, Mardi Gras balls and fairs until 1989.

In April 1989, he left the U.S. for a seven-year European tour. Living in England and Germany, he played with a pair of German musicians in a trio called The Night Dogs. Eventually all good things must come to an end, and he returned stateside.

Pensacola, Florida looked like a good place to settle. Having traveled to places like Hong Kong, Hawaii, Palma Majorca, Cannes, Cyprus, and the Caribbean, he considers the area from Gulf Shores, Alabama to Panama City, Florida to have some of the best beaches in the world. He finds it a joy to live and play in the area he calls the Redneck Riviera and is happy to call it home. He is now firmly established and enjoying just about all the work he can handle, entertaining at private events and conferences at some of the areas finest resorts.

He's produced five CDs and a stage musical called Emerald Coast in his Pensacola studio for his own End of the Road record label. And now you have an opportunity to check out his music yourself!!

Range and Depth of Style

would be the really short way to describe this CD as a whole. Funk, swing, rock, ballad...it's all here. I especially like HER SONG and I'M WITH YOU NOW. Musically these stand out above the rest of the CD both from a writing and production standpoint. The tone of the lead guitar solo in I'M WITH YOU NOW offers an interesting contrast to the general context of the song. I liked that. The ending of HER SONG is especially interesting given the song is in a major key but ends minor in a very Aerosmithish "Dream On" fashion. It caught my ears immediately as it will yours too. Cool breezes are blowin' on the big Peninsula.

There's something in this CD for every taste

A great mix of music and styles, from the swampy roadhouse dancebeat of Saturday Night Rock&Roll to the moody soul-bearing honesty of I'm With You Now. Nice vocals combined with really great lyrics make this a pleasant listen from beginning to end.

Very nice compilation of music variety

I listened to the tracks and they represented a nice variety of music. The voice on the CD reminds me of Aaron Neville, really smooth range and as musical as the instruments. This would be a great CD to listen to on a drive along the scenic route or just sitting on the beach. The only thing missing is more of this type of music.
