Album Notes

Dr. Dynamite was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone in West Africa. Despite the lack of a formal musical education, he taught himself to play the guitar, and was the lead guitarist in a band led by Geraldo Pino, called Geraldo Pino and the Heartbeats.
He formed his first group, after leaving the Heartbeats, naming it "The Jazz Leone National" but lack of finance and proper instruments, soon led to the demise of this band.
Overcoming enormous obstacles, Dr. Dynamite succeeded in forming his second band, "The Explosives". This coincided with the growth in popularity of the electronic organ and other keyboard instruments worldwide, thus, Dr. Dynamite added an electronic keyboard to his line up. Unfortunately there were no keyboard players familiar with the dance music of the day, so once again, Dr. Dynamite, pulled another hat trick, by teaching himself to play the keyboards!
He began to experiment with indigenous Sierra Leonean rhythms, resulting in what he called the "Masokoloko" rhythm. Pronounced; MAR-SO-KO-LOR-KOR, the rhythm became established in the Sierra Leonean musical community, and with its success, he renamed his group, Masokoloko.
The group toured Argentina and Uruguay in 1972, performing in night clubs and theatres. In Buenos Aires, such as the 2001 (DOS mil Uno) and Rugantino. They also toured the coastal city of Bahia Blanca, the colonial capital of Argentina. Cordoba on the edge of the Sierra Chica mountain range, Salta, another beautifully preserved colonial city, and Mar del Plata, 400 meters from Buenos Aires, where they played at the night club Enterprise and where some of the best beaches in South America, can be found. In Uruguay, the group per¬formed at the Hotel Victoria Plaza and the Domino night club in Montevideo.
Upon returning to Sierra Leone, after this successful tour, the group suffered a fatal setback. All of his musical instruments were destroyed in an automobile accident in 1979, ulti¬mately leading to the group's break up.
In 1995, Dr. Dynamite decided to go solo, however that path in his career, was thwarted by the decade long Rebel War in Sierra Leone, forcing Dr. Dynamite to relocate to the United States, where he presently resides
Enjoy listening and dancing to these pulsating rhythms from Dr. Dynamite.
With love from Sierra Leone, to the world
