Those Dreaded Gnats! Listen to their new CD “A Dreaded Xmas - more xmas negatives”.
Come listen, as they’ve re-recorded all the songs from their Demo CD, to perfection, plus added a number of new songs never before released. "A Dreaded Xmas" was also mastered by the one and only Phil Judd, who was a founding member of the Australia/New Zealand bands SPLIT ENZ, and THE SWINGERS. (He’s also recently released a new CD as well, called Novelty Act)
Who the hell are THOSE DREADED GNATS? They are Harry Kopy and George Simonovich. Two seasoned musicians who’ve worked together for years. These talented and witty guys have finally taken their craft, and are making it available to the public. Along with several studio musicians, “A Dreaded Xmas” is musically and lyrically, a sensation in the making!
One of the many things that makes THOSE DREADED GNATS, “A Dreaded Xmas” so compelling, is their sense of humor. Though most of the songs are Gnat originals, they’ve even done a remake of the classic “Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer” that is hilarious! What adds to its charm is that it’s a reggae version of the song! Some of the lyrics were also changed for a full Jamaican/Rasta feel. Blessings were given to use this song by Elmo Shropshire, who recorded and sang the original version, as the duo Elmo and Patsy.
"A Dreaded Xmas - more xmas negatives", has had a couple of songs included in the independent movie “A Halfway House Christmas”. It features Robert Romanus (remember him as Damone, in Fast Times at Ridgemount High), comedian/Police Academy actor Bobcat Goldthwait as a narrator (his rendition of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” is a riot), Ryan Dunn and Rakeyohn, from the Jackass movies, and then some. And if you purchase the movie on DVD, you’ll hear almost all of the songs from “A Dreaded Xmas” as background music in the extras.

Merry FXmas - You've got a great job, things are going really well for you, and then all of a sudden, you get laid off, get a DWI, and divorce papers. Well, Merry F'n Xmas to you! You can cut/paste this link to the video for this song:

Down With Xmas (Featuring the angry townspeople) - Here are all your basic complaints about the holidays. From unwanted gifts and bratty kids to stores that put Santa displays up too early, and neighbors who don't take theirs down.
Xmas Everyday (for my kids) - If you have kids, then you know what it's like when you're out shopping. Doesn't matter what time of year, the spoiled brats just have to have something to take home...and if you don't have kids, this'll keep you from ever wanting any.
Santa Takes Da Rap (Featuring Ice Milk) - Ever wonder what Santa's like in the Urban world? Well here he is dodging bullets from Rudolph, and drive by sleighings.
Just Say No To Xmas - Let's see, we've got Ramadan, Kwanza, and Hanukkah. Who needs Xmas?
Once a Year - Ok, so we're not all negative about Xmas. This is a touching song about waiting for that jolly fat fellow every year.
Mastered by Phil Judd, now available!

totally great!!! Kinda dark humor, but the lyrics are inventive and surprising, the mix allows one to hear all voices and instruments, the styles are a wonderfully crafted mix. Well done in every way, a joy to listen to, and I'm finding myself enjoying them more with time and familiarity - the mark of good workmanship!

What a novel idea!

Yes, I've heard many Christmas songs that were funny, but never quite like this. I don't know whether these guys actually hate Christmas or not, but they sure put a negative spin on it. Yet if you take it with a grain of salt, well, I almost had my beverage come out of my nose when I heard the punch line in Merry FXmas. It sure made me listen intently to the rest of the CD. They are some very clever and talented musicians and songwriters. I wonder what they'd do if they weren't writing Christmas music.

Was feeling a bit bummed about the whole holiday "process". You know, not knowing what I should get for who. This CD just made me laugh. So I'm not the only one going through this!
