Album Notes

Veteran San Francisco song-writing team David Fortier and Elizabeth Levett Fortier teamed up with good friends Robert Duarte and the late Dennis Hawley on this unusual record. Fortier brings some of his flirtation with Central Asian, Middle Eastern, and North African traditional music to the table with Elizabeth's lyrics to produce a truly original piece of work. Fortier plays guitar, mandolin, and bouzouki. Levett sings and plays dumbeck, bodhran and other drums and percussion. Duarte plays dumbeck and hand percussion. Hawley adds whimsical flute and keyboards. Included are some traditional (public domain) pieces completely re-arranged by Fortier, as well as some typical Levett/Fortier original songs and a couple of collaborations between Elizabeth and Dennis Hawley. As difficult to classify as San Francisco music well should be!
