A teacher, a mother, a music maker, Dre Towey has been described as a modern pied piper with a Sheryl Crow vibe. Dre graduated Lafayette College with a double major in Art and English in 1990. Her first teaching job was at an elementary school in New York City in 1996. While Dre taught she studied art education at Parsons School of Design/Bank Street College. Dre entered the kindiemusic scene as a writer and illustrator for fellow teacher, Wendy Gelsanliter, in 1998. She then continued as a solo artist in 2003, altogether she has produced three children, three CDs, received two Parents Choice Awards, has been dubbed as a Mom of Reinvention by Role Mommy and safely adopted and raised several fish, three and a half cats and a dog.
Dre taught art at Art Escape, The Rowayton Arts Center and Paper Scissors Oranges and continues to perform her music at libraries, books stores, schools and family events. Her music has been described as “intelligent, fun and slyly educational.”
