Album Notes

Driftwood are an acoustic trio specialising in Folk Music with a tinge of Soul. Recently formed from experienced musicians the line-up features Diane Drummond on vocals. You may have heard her velvet tones in the vocal group Malenka, or singing blues with The Jumps, but only in Driftwood does she get the space to show her amazing voice to its full effect. This is because of the sensitive arrangements and accompaniment provided by Alister McDonald on keyboards and Dave Rolfe on guitar. Equally at home with Classical, Jazz or Church music, Alister turns his hand to folk music with style. But hints of his other styles ‘flavour’ the music, so that Driftwood do not play ‘plain’ folk music, but colour their arrangements with Blues, Jazz and Soul overtones. Completing the line-up is Dave Rolfe. Familiar to UK Shropshire and Staffordshire folk audiences as half of the duo Take Two, Dave’s subtle guitar accompaniments complement the Driftwood sound perfectly.
