Album Notes

The core members of Driving West came together in the early 90's in the band Sahara Rain. After the band received several major label offers and released an independent album the group disbanded. After the breakup, Andrew Mark and Richard Mathews continued to write songs and slowly began building their own recording studio. James Mathews left to coordinate the music program on cruise ships. Billy Fraser went on to perform with the band Oblation and recorded the project Discern that was produced and engineered by Andrew.
During this time apart Andrew and Richard went through a time of real soul searching and began writing about things they knew and about experiences in their lives instead of writing to please managers, lawyers, and industry people. It was now 1999, the members had reassembled, accumulated a vast repertoire of songs and had a completed line up. Driving West was formed.
The band entered the studio late in 1999 to finish tracking material and began working with Ty Tabor(Kings X) as co- producer on the project. The project is definitely a labor of love and has been a long time in coming for these guys. Brought together by friendships and a desire to share life experiences, this band brings a fresh approach to their music.
