Ted "dr j" Jablonski is Calgary, Alberta, Canada's most famous performing artist-MD!!
You may have seen him on T.V. or on big screen movies, heard him on national radio or seen him live on the theatrical/musical stage - but now this multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter has released his second independent CD.
Produced by the award winning Tim Williams, "black cloud"'s 10 original songs feature piano, acoustic guitar, harmonica and the brooding baritone of "dr j". His writing is undeniably intelligent and somewhat quirky with an intimate, poetic lyrical style.
"black cloud" explores themes as diverse as depression (title track),street people ("has heaven run out of miracles today?" recorded on Sept. 11, 2001), terminal illness ("hey sue") to lamenting the fate of professional hockey in Canada ("the night the rocket died") and the frivolous celebration of cigars ("havana is heaven").

brilliance and darkness together - I guess this is a SOLAR ECLIPSE!!!!

dark? brilliant?? - an understatement at best
I truly sobbed after hearing this disc -
dr j taps into a collective well of emotion and
I really think I know some of the people he's writing about - they're my friends at work, the person I just passed on the street, my relative, my lover, MYSELF??
His songs are well crafted - simple and intense.
I love singer-songwriters who play it straight, naked and pared down to the bone - not a wasted word or superflous musical phrasing and dr j delivers (and I don't mean babies)
dr j is intelligent, quirky, interesting and definitely unique. I strongly recommend this disc to anyone who cringes at a rhyming cliche lyrics and swoons to the prophetic voice of realism.
