Formed in 1992, Druidas has managed to become one of the most respected bands among the independent community in México. Patricio, Güera, Chespi and Fernando owe much to their unique, no-nonsense sound, but also to their tenacity and deep sense of professionalism. These factors, among many others have allowed them to release two independent cd's and tour their country many times without compromising their integrity or submitting to the whims of a multinational corporation.
Their formative years, spent in the small city of Puebla, are recorded in a 1994 independent compilation released under the title "Ñ, Sonidos Nuevos desde Puebla". In spite of it's limited reach, it created enough buzz for them to decide relocating to Mexico City.
In 1995 they obtained the 4th place in the Battle of the Bands held by Mexico's most prestigious rock club, Rockotitlán. One year later, they obtained the same result in the "El Rock nos Pertenece" contest organized by Orbita 105.7, the premier rock station in Mexico City.
It wasn't, however, until the year 2000 that they finally released their debut album, "Siete". The record got good reviews and took them on a completely self-financed nationwide tour that stretched for more than a year. It began and ended in Mexico City's Hard Rock Live, both times in front of a full audience.
"Siete" was voted the Best Pop/Rock debut in the year 2000 edition of the "Nuestro Rock" survey. In February of 2001 it was featured as cd of the week in Imagen 90.5, arguably the best radio station in Mexico City. Although their first single, "Fin", failed to chart in Mexico City, it reached the top spot in many radio stations around the country and abroad (Guadalajara, in Mexico, and Lima, in Peru being just two examples). The video for the same song was voted among the top 50 in the year 2000, according to TeleHit, Mexico's most important video channel. They have appeared in innumerable TV stations like Once TV, Canal 22, TVC and many others.
They have not stopped performing, though. They continue to play in small clubs as well as massive festivals around the country. It was, indeed, while playing in front of hundreds of people on the anniversary of the "Tianguis Cultural del Chopo" that they realized how the long years of sacrifice and hard work were beginning to give results. Any doubts still lingering dissipated when met with a highly emotive reception by a center stage audience at the XpoAlternativa festival (with a line-up that included bands like Zoe, La Barranca and Guillotina).
In October of 2002 they began, with the aid of P&P Producciones, the recording of what became their second album: Druidas-Druidas. This release finds Druidas going back to their classic rock roots as well as going further into the musical experimentation begun on "Siete", where they successfully incorporated Celtics elements into their music. The result is a wide-ranging album that mixes edgy rock music with varied textures such as live strings, african percussion, Asturian pipes, stadium songs and the delicate voice of a woman. All of this with heartfelt passion, but never losing a sense of humor, as witnessed by the inclusion of the theme song from an 80's TV kiddie show.
Druidas-Druidas features an all-star list of guest musicians, such as harp virtuoso Rafael Salgado, the bluegrass guitar of Lalo Chico (both of them members of México's El Tri), or the fairy-like Sol Aravena (singer of Chile's Muza).
Currently, Druidas are about to embark on a tour to support this latest release. For the first time in their career, they will take their impressive live show beyond the borders of Mexico.
Presently Druidas is getting prepared to release their new album in the United States under the independent label Escuchalo Records.

Formada en 1992, Druidas ha logrado consolidarse como una de las bandas más importantes de la escena independiente de México gracias a un sonido único y sin prejuicios que, aunado a su tenacidad y alto sentido del profesionalismo, les ha permitido a Patricio, Güera, Chespi y Fernando lanzar al mercado dos discos y recorrer varias veces la República Mexicana sin necesidad de comprometer su integridad o someterse a los caprichos de una compañía multinacional.
Sus inicios en la ciudad de Puebla tienen, como testimonio, el acoplado titulado "Ñ, Sonidos Nuevos desde Puebla" (1994) que, a pesar de lo limitado de sus alcances, abrió algunas puertas para que pudieran pensar en emigrar al Distrito Federal.

No es, sin embargo, sino hasta el año 2000 que logran lanzar su disco debut titulado "Siete". Este disco recibe buenas críticas y los lleva a una gira a nivel nacional totalmente autogestionada que inicia en el Hard Rock Live de la Ciudad de México y termina, mas de un año después, en el mismo lugar. Cabe mencionar que ambas ocasiones registran un lleno en el lugar.
"Siete" es declarado el "Mejor Debut Rock/Pop" según la "Encuesta Nacional Nuestro Rock" del año 2000 y es disco de la semana en febrero del 2001 en Imagen 90.5. El primer sencillo, "Finn", aunque no llega a colarse en ninguna lista del Distrito Federal, ocupa los primeros puestos en diversas estaciones de radio de ciudades del interior y exterior como Guadalajara, Coatzacoalcos y, para sorpresa de los mismos integrantes de la banda, Perú, Lima. El video de la misma canción fue votado entre los mejores 50 del año 2000 según la cadena TeleHit. Han aparecido en innumerables programas de televisión en estaciones como OnceTV, Canal 22, TVC y diversas cadenas de provincia.
Druidas no ha dejado nunca de tocar en vivo, presentándose por igual en pequeños clubes y en festivales masivos a lo largo de toda la República Mexicana. Ciertamente, fue tocando ante más de un millar y medio de personas en el aniversario del Tianguis Cultural del Chopo que los integrantes de Druidas se dieron cuenta de que los años de sacrificio y trabajo estaban empezando a dar frutos. Cualquier duda que hubiera existido se disipó al ver la muy emotiva reacción del público cuando se presentaron en el escenario principal de la Primer XpoAlternativa (cuyo cartel incluía a bandas como Zoé, la Barranca y Guillotina).
En octubre del 2002 inició, con el apoyo de P&P Producciones, la grabación de lo que sería su segundo disco: Druidas-Druidas. Esta producción lleva a Druidas a, por un lado, retomar las raíces rockeras de su fase formativa. Por el otro, les permite profundizar en las exploraciones musicales iniciadas en "Siete", en el que habían incorporado, con éxito, sonidos celtas en su música. El resultado es una variada obra que conjunta el rock más agresivo con texturas tan diversas como las ofrecidas por la viola y el cello, las percusiones africanas, la gaita asturiana, las canciones de estadio o la delicada voz de una mujer. Todo esto con pasión y entrega, pero sin perder jamás el sentido del humor, lo cual puede verse en la inclusión de una original versión del tema de un programa infantil de los 80's.
Druidas-Druidas cuenta con un reparto estelar de músicos invitados que incluye, entre muchos otros, al virtuoso de la armónica Rafael Salgado, a la guitarra campirana de Lalo Chico (ambos integrantes del Tri de México), al Coro de la Legión Extranjera de México y a la joya chilena Sol Aravena (cantante de Muza).
Actualmente Druidas se encuentra en preparación de la gira que habrá de promocionar esta producción y que, por primera vez en su carrera, les permitirá llevar su impresionante show en vivo fuera de las fronteras de México.
