While GARWA RHYTUM DANCE will fit easily into the categories of world fusion or ethno-jazz music, it's true scope is that of a much wider stylistic range.
Most notable is the broad pallet of sounds the ensemble employs to realize the rich textures and often dark beauty that Esser's work demands.
the Duha Spirit Ensemble introduces the listener to much of the thematic material that is later revisited through out the entire work. the Opening, a seductive serpent like bass flute melting away into a steely hot electric slide guitar passage brings to mind the image of a firey mystical sword. A congregation of found percussion inspires a dark realm of magic, sensual vocal passages give us comfort while suggesting the paths ahead hold many amazing adventures. this CD is great fun!

Founded by CONVERTIBLE URBANITE'S violinist/guitarist Lin Esser, (see CONVERTIBLE URBANITE' & 'SUNDIAL' CD BABY) DSE brings together a variety of talented percussionists, vocalists, and instrumentalists who's collected travels include Europe, the Mediterranean, Africa, India, China, and the vast diverse cultures of the United States.

Garwa Rhythm Dance (the first of a three part set) is a suite of nine tracks arranged as a contiguous work running approximately 60 minutes.

The music is sophisticated yet not overtly intellectual and the instrumentation is as diverse as it is plentiful.

Cinematic anthems and spacious ritual meditations are brought together here in a fresh, crystal-clear sonic quest.
