ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A limited edition put out by the Museum Of Contempory Art.

The Legendary Drummer Billy Higgins was very instrumental in the organization of the World Famous MOCA Summer Nights Music Series and rumer has it that it was Higgins who chose the material for this CD.

This recording features some of the Legendary Drummers best work and was recorded shortly before his death.

The production work on this CD is increadible.

It captures the best of a live performance without intrusive background noise.

Track (1) features the explosive Mrs. Barbara Morrison on vocals.

Track (2) features a group led by Billy Higgins with longtime band mates Harold Land and Cedar Walton.

Track(3)features New Orleans vocalist Sandra Booker.Sandra
is one of Billy's favorite vocalists and her rendition of "MY Ship" is timeless.Unfortunely Sandra has been overlooked by the mainstream media.

Track(4)is the Legendary Latin Jazz percussionist Bobby Matos. His rendition of "The African Queen" is destined to be a classic.

Track(5)is a rare recording by two of the most brilliant and under apreciated musicians in the world, violinist Michael White and pianist Joe Bonner.

Track(6) captures the legendary blues singer Ernie Andrews at his best.Ernie's version of the popular "I've Seen Fire And I've Seen Rain" is a tribute to his own great artistry.

Track(7)features Higgins on drums and a rare live recording of Charles Lloyd. A must for Charles Lloyd fans. This track features pianist Brad Meldau.

Track(8)teams Higgins up with old friend Barry Harris. You must hear the result to believe it.

Great music by top artists in their maturity
This is a collection of numbers by many great bands including several great artists in their maturity. Wuth Billy Higgins on drums for many items, you know it swings. Live recording is pretty good.

Awesome
This CD is a real gem. Some of jazz's finest musicians, anchored by the great Billy Higgins. The live recording is top notch, with little audience noise (most jazz audiences are pretty respectful anyway). A wonderful cross section of artists, and they all rise to the occasion with some great swinging moments. I had to buy a copy for my brother and share the joy.
