BIO:
I have been playing in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area and surrounding region venues and festivals for the last 25 years. It has been my pleasure to play with many talented people in bands that have performed a wide variety of music. (I was also the primary writer in the instrumental acoustic quartet "Point of Departure" which has to this date released four CDs, the latter "Gypsy Heart" is available through cdbaby also.) As a part of all these entities I have had the good fortune to be an opener for acts as diverse as Merle Saunders, Bill Miller, Guggenheim Grotto and Kaki King.

During all those years I have steadily compiled and performed my own catalogue of original songs. "It's what's inside that counts..." is the synthesis of 25 years of songwriting, many musical experiences, a wonderful collection of fine musical talent who gave unconditionally, excellent recording engineering, and incidents which can only be described as being arranged by a higher source of inspiration.

While they contain primarily an acoustic guitar or piano as a central instrument, the recordings contain a wide variety of instrumentation including upright bass, cello, flute and oboe as well as marimba, steel drums, hand percussion and, of course, electric guitars. These 20 songs also reflect an exposure to many musical categories (rock, pop, reggae, etc.) but seem, at least for me, to defy narrowing style descriptions as individual pieces. Maybe that's a good thing. While the lyric content does not deny that the world can be a dark place the ultimate feeling generated is spiritual and positive. Hope you find something here you like. My work continues to evolve as I am currently investigating world rhythms. Please send me an e-mail and let me know you're out there and what you like. duajan1@verizon.net.

A magical expedition of self-discovery and musical mastery.
author: Jason Hoffman - Whatzup weekly

Ten seconds into "Keep On Movin'" with its gruff guitars, slight world vibe and serene floating flute you know this is no adolescent nu-punk rock album. This first song sets the tone for the rest of the album...a kind of metaphysical journey. Duane encourages the listener to "Have Hope" in a world where "living here today is so complex / we sometimes want to end it all". With great music that is half acoustic Zeppelin and half pop-rock, it's easy to want to stick around. On any other album a sitar would seem out of place but here on "...and We Run" it leads a rollicking rock song that culminates in running toward a hopeful future while searing guitars bring the album to a close. The mature songwriting and intense lyrics easily reveal that Duane Eby alone has more musical experience than the sum of many entire bands. With a synthesis of styles that spans generations, it's easy to find something you love on "It's What's Inside That Counts". Treat yourself to this magical expedition of self-discovery and musical mastery by buying a copy now.

Twenty tracks, one transcendant song of life
author: Jack Kerley, author

It took a dozen listenings to this compilation to realize it's a single song, albeit in the manner that Odysseus's trip was one voyage: ten years fraught with peril, wizardry, enchantment, revelation, and ultimately, enlightenment. The musical styles here are uncannily diverse, at times spare, at times symphonic, at times pyrotechnic. Every note, beat, and word has a place, nothing is extraneous. This is a dramatic and serious work that nonetheless explains why one "plays" music as opposed to "working" it (the delightful Bend Down a perfect example). There are tracks that seem beautifully haunted, like Step into the Light, and tracks like Hard Question, that pose, well, hard questions. Though often attempted, it's a rare compilation of tracks that coalesces into a single unified entity--think Sgt. Pepper's or Nebraska--but when it happens the effect is glorious. It's What's Inside that Counts is a magical voyage, a transcendant song in the key of Enlightenment, and I commend it without reservation to anyone with a restless and joyful spirit.

Great folksy, pop originals with just a touch of effervescence, Duane Eby
author: Cathy Serrano, Songbird Promotions, Inc.

Great folksy, pop originals with just a touch of effervescence, Duane Eby once again dazzles his audience with his guitar and his voice. Many of us who are fortunate enough to be in Fort Wayne, Indiana, can routinely get a treat from Duane's live performances, but if you are not, then this is your ticket to some great entertainment. Duane's many friends have been enlisted to add some additional spark through their own instrumental performances. An excellent Christmas gift!
