With a unique blend of roots, rock, dub and dancehall DubScene has "rocked the reefer crowd"(High Times Magazine April 2007) at the Santa Cruz Medical Cup and the 3rd Annual Santa Cruz WAMM Fest, just to name a few.Their self titled debut cd was well received by the masses which fueled the fire. Biography
Dubscene was founded in the hills of Santa Cruz, Ca in the spring of 2005. They have managed to create a truly unique sound by fusing a wide variety of influences, from traditional reggae, dancehall, dub to Hendrix-style blues, rock and roll, funk and even heavy metal. Determined to bring new life and energy to the California reggae scene, Dubscene is blazing with originality, raw talent and a danceable groove. Long time friends Elijah Post (guitar) Yeshe Jackson (guitar, vocals) and Jon Golling (bass) all grew up together in the Santa Cruz mountains, playing in a handful of bands throughout the years. In the fall of 2004, a chance one-time jam at a friends house brought these three together with Jorel Keefauver (drums,lead vocals) and Jennifer Glazier (melodica). The chemistry that night was so undeniable that a decision was made right then and there to form the band. The addition shortly thereafter of Jon Crisara (percussion) and Brian Valdevia (saxophone) have helped to make the sound more complete. Dubscenes' ten song self titled debut cd has been very well received by people of all ages and musical preferences . This positive response has inspired the group, who are currently in the studio recording their second cd, due out in 2007. Dubscene is taking reggae music to another level, bringing youthful vibrance and a rock and roll edge together with a solid foundation and respect for the roots.
