Album Notes

"Chant Rastafari" represents the culmination of over 15 years of work together with Dub Station. Shaka Black's been featured on various indy singles and Dub Station's first album (1997), but nothing like this has yet been released. The studio tracks are great, but mostly reflect the majority of the songs on this album, which were each recorded at different live shows, and showcase Shaka Black's irrepressible live energy, good hooks, and conscious lyrics.

As always, Dub Station presents artists in the best possible light, and themselves have never issued a live recording, so this is a gem even just for that.

Right now, Shaka Black's travelling between the U.S. and his native Caribbean, recording in Jamaica, and planning future works. Shaka Black toured the entire West Coast of the U.S. with Dub Station at the close of 2005, and was very well received. 2006 is seeing the gradual rollout of "Chant Rastafari" to radio internationally.
