Album Notes

"Like a Sly & Robbie of the tri-state area...a more palpable, living-instrument experience akin to what, say, The Roots do with hip-hop." - NY Press

It is hard to believe that Exploring the Dangers of is, by and large, the creation of a mere three instrumentalists whose aim is to record "live" dub in real-time, direct to tape with few overdubs (melodica & keyboard), if any. Dub Trio are DP Holmes (guitar/ keyboards), Stu Brooks (bass/ keyboards), and Joe Tomino (drums/ melodica). Their sound is massive!!!

By incorporating elements of electronic, rock, and jazz, Dub Trio are simultaneously revolutionizing and paying homage to King Tubby's original style dub. And, like any great band, they make it sound so easy; using the simplicity of dub to house a complex and unique musical vision, Dub Trio are on their way to creating something entirely new.

About a year ago, Dub Trio began booking club gigs(Knitting Factory, Tonic, NuBlu, etc..) around NYC as a nameless band who performed "LIVE" dub style reggae. As their popularity and demand grew people began to refer to this nameless band as the "Dub Trio"-merely a description, but the name, honest, direct and organic as their music, stuck.

PRESS ON DUB TRIO:

"Dub Trio follow their instincts, bastardizing the genre's rules by incorporating electronics, noise & winding paths of unconventional, proggish rock...Dub Trio's Jamaican color is drawn expertly by human hand (no drum machines were ever employed) with dubs performed on the fly...Exploring the Dangers of is a smart, inventive record that captures of-the-moment dub/rock creation as it flows from the spigot." - SPLENDID

"Dub Trio is to dub what The New Deal is to house music."
- JAMBANDS.COM

"An outstanding introduction to their unusual style...Very highly recommended. 4 Stars" - ALL MUSIC

"In all languages this music simply rocks. Top Dub Album of 2004" -THE WIRE (uk)

"Part dub danger, part psychedelic madlib, Exploring is outstanding." - XLR8R

Aah.. This's the real stuff. Real instruments are almost always better than synths & drummachines. Can't say nothing more than PERFECT...Go to the studio and make a killer album and I'll buy it. Simple as that. 5/5 definitely. JOLLYGOD

Oh Yes. This is a beautiful composition. This is an anthem, I could hear Michael Rose, like the old Black Uhuru with Sly and Robbie...but not to date this because its new and original. 5 Stars JAH WIZARD

This is good stuff. The second track, casting out the nines, has got to be one of the best I have ever heard. If you don't already own this, you should. This cd is on fire.
