Album Notes

The DUE WEST TRIO combines talent and years of experience to provide the best in traditional Western musical entertainment.

Brought together in 1994 through family reunions and friendships, the DUE WEST TRIO combines outstanding instrumentation and vocals to perform music as at home on a venue stage as around a campfire. Theirs is not “country” or dance music but rather rich harmonies harkening back to years gone by of the moonlit trails of the American West. The Trio is often joined on stage by their good friend and award-winning fiddler, Tim O’Connor. They are members of the Academy of Western Artists and one of its 2003 nominees for Western Music: Duo/Group. They have released two compact discs to favorable reviews.

Rena Randall is a fifth generation Tucsonan married to a fifth generation Arizonan! She traveled the rodeo circuit with her parents as a child and is now a wife, mother, horsewoman and musician. On stage, Rena plays tenor guitar and three-string and mountain dulcimer. In addition to being a fine songwriter, her vocal abilities and soaring range captivate lovers of western music. That “pretty voice” has caused Rusty Richards, former member of the legendary Sons of the Pioneers to declare, “I have definitely become a fan”.

David Gibson, also a fifth generation Arizonan was raised in Tucson. His great grandfather was a Hashknife cowboy. David’s pioneer heritage includes family that settled northern Arizona cities such as Snowflake, Holbrook, and Woodruff. Dave plays acoustic guitar, Kay acoustic bass and 5-string banjo. He sings harmony and occasional lead vocals and has written some outstanding songs based on historical southwest events.

Dave Bertoglio, born and raised in Southern California, has ancestry dating back to territorial Arizona. He plays guitar and harmonica and is a songwriter and arranger. He also sings both lead and harmony vocals. His affable stage presence as well as his musical ability keeps audiences smiling.

"Legends, Love Songs and Lies" is the Trio's second CD and has received excellent reviews. Rusty Richards, former member of the legendary Sons of the Pioneers, after hearing this recording and speaking of the Trio enthusiastically said, "I have definitely become a fan!"

REVIEWS

This CD has rekindled my love for western music
author: Danny Hankins
There are some great songs on this CD. The originals are well written and especially good. There is heart in the performance of each song. I bought several CDs to give as gifts to the people I love most.
