Album Notes

Louisiana: This is Louisiana Americana… and the real thing! Doug Duffey has been singing, playing, and writing songs since he was a teenager. These songs are filled with the imagery and feeling of Louisiana and the Mississippi Delta- from the big city to the country and back. This is original New Orleans and Louisiana blues, jazz, and folk written and performed by one of Louisiana’s premier singer/songwriters, pianists and performers.

Taken from 3 different solo recording sessions done in New Orleans and Monroe, Louisiana between 1988-1992, these songs were recorded “live” in the studio in one take. As soon as one song was performed/recorded- and checked by the engineer- he went on to the next one. These recordings are as close to a "live" Doug Duffey solo concert as you can get.

"Duffey's love of the blues and gospel colors all his arrangements and never is he more at home than with with classic rocking rolling R&B piano. with a powerful soulful voice to match his keyboard skills, Duffey is one of Louisiana's most able ambassadors of soul" --- Louie Ludwig, Rabadash Records

"Doug Duffey has been singing and playing piano professionally since he was fourteen years old. influenced by blues, gospel, New Orleans rhythm & blues, Louisiana rock & roll, psychedelic rock, funk, and Memphis soul, Duffey has synthesized it all into a personal mix which is uniquely his own and quintessentially Louisiana" --- Mike Luster, Louisiana Folklife Festival

This is a great CD. So many beautiful songs - Fare The Well, Evangeline, New Orleans Rain, and Louisiana are my favorites, but all of them are GREAT! Doug Duffey's lyrics are eloquent and thoughtful, and his piano playing is extraordinary. A true masterpiece, you will treasure this CD. Highly recommended.
