Album Notes

DUFUS and the non-church of the complete dissassemblement of reality is absolutely unrecognizable newness; the dawning of a freakish age which is just upon us earth people, a looming stormblack cloud just over head.

future holds controlled chaos; a world where freedom runs open, colliding with excess of opression doled out from on high.

hailing from a city where people thrive off the failure of others, from a land called new york city comes perhaps the last blast of hope, the dufus child; a pure fountain of easily obtained retainable joy.

this music is unlike anything you have ever heard, no exaggeration. refreshing to the last kerplop, spilling down your face and shirt and pants and socks and shoes and floor and out the door onto the pavement down the gutter all the way to the burning core...

A few quotes about dufus:

"...like tasting fruit off the vine after a lifetime of grape soda." -Ink19
"like El Greco's version of Jesus." - Bernard Stollman, founder & president ESP-Disk
"Like an encyclopedia of so-called outsider music condensed into a Downtown pagan mystery meeting. Dufus's recent "1:3:1" is the most unironically anarchic album I've heard all year...it's the 21st -century equivalent of the Fugs at their finest." - Richard Gehr, Village Voice
"They're making this wonderful, wonderful noise, pure songmaking without the clichés...We need romantic, real-world dreamers like this. We need DUFUS." - Organ Magazine (uk)
"Phenomenal Live." NME

REVIEWS

The newest, most exciting stuff I have heard in years!!

This is no exaggeration folks; the album 1:3:1 is one of the most beautiful pieces of artwork in the world today. About 5 months ago, a friend of mine mentioned this band, DUFUS, who he saw playing a show in London by chance. He said he was blown away. I sort of forgot the whole conversation until I ran accross a review of them in Organ Magazine which talked them up just as much...so i did a search and here is where I ended up. Buy this disc! I have gotten endless pleasure out of it. Every time I listen it is a new experience. Thank you DUFUS!

Most original "rock" record I've heard in years!

I heard Dufus on WFMU (WFMU.org for web cast) and based on that live performance I had to get the CD. What does Dufus sound like? Here are some influences I can pick out- Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, Sun Ra, Motown, Country etc.... The band is a blast to listen to. This is fun music. Changing rythmns, great harmonies, some great melodies, bazarre lyrics. What is refreshing is that they are a rock band but not a guitar band. The musicians are obviously very good but no one in the band stands out other than the lead vocalist. Highly recommended to anyone looking for something refreshing and new.
