Duhmocracy is a collection of outrageous musical satire, much of it political, unrepentant, irreverent humor. Though the CD contains no explicit lyrics, some songs may make the heads of the blissfully unaware or the willfully ignorant—explode.

Album Notes

This ten-song debut collection from Victrola & the Duhst Bunnies is irreverent, unapologetic humor from edge to edge. On Duhmocracy Victrola explodes cultural myth, exposes dirty politicians, religious hypocrites and shameless media and tells tall tales of life under a Duhmocracy. Without pity she takes apart the corruption and stupidity one lyric at a time. Victrola, or Victoria Parks, has been a songwriter for the last 35 years. While Duhmocracy takes a hard left from her work in the past with serious traditional folk and folk rock, she now says "this is the time to show my silly, irreverent side. The times are extraordinary and the players on this world stage deserve lampooning in the worst way!"

Duhmocracy is a double shot of irony chased with a tall tale or two. The political satire aside, poking fun at modern romance in today's "marriage aftermarket" from a woman's point of view is Victrola's speciality with her new self-proclaimed genre, the "ex-husband song." "We have all been so played by corporate spin and a steady diet of pop poop, we barely know who we are anymore as men and women, as a culture, a society and a nation. I am here to remind everyone who we are and how we got here, and help them laugh it off while they are at it. Life is loud, laugh louder. You are smarter than they think!"

Another Fascist Day

Everything on this CD is great. My personal favorite is the above. If this CD hasn't captured the freedom lover's lament in today's American culture and living under Bush rule, nothing will! It is also testimony of the impossible task Bush attempted- to contain the real American spirit. Victoria Parks so sweetly sticks a thumb into the eye of any loyal Bushies. Parks is a true patriot!
