Album Notes

The two fallen cherubs of New York's DUKE have already left their mark on the New York club scene in a big way, and word is spreading. Their brazenly fabulous, notoriously lusty performances have recently garnered lavish praise in the UK as well.

Their triumphant April 2005 UK trip began with airplay on UK radio trendsetter Resonance FM and culminated in a repeat performance at the infamous party, The Cock. But their house-shaking live appearances are only half of the story.

The recently released In Bed w/ Her EP rocks hard and hearkens back to the days when 'I Want Your Sex' and 'Like a Virgin' were causing mass cultural hysteria, on and off the playground.

Indeed, the EP has perked the ears of many Captains of Scenedustry; it's included on Larry Tee's latest mix CD Gentle Electric as well as on Cleopatra Records' new Electro-Wave CD. And thanks to regular spins on dancefloors all across New York City, they've become regular favorites at all of the city's most fabulous hipster clubs.

Like a scene straight out of Lou Reed's Transformer, John Michael and Nathan met on the street in 1998, outside of Dick's bar in the East Village. John Michael was wearing a provocative outfit with synthentic hair and Nathan was dressed in skintight mesh. The name DUKE was the obvious choice: masculine and powerful, yet glamorous and feminine, alluding to a time when men were beautiful.

DUKE and producer Bryan Ogden's crisp, glossy sound, laden with filthy flourishes of guitar and synthesizer, is nasty enough for the fickle New York club scene yet screaming for pop audiences worldwide.

This fall Europe will be turned upside down and love it, with the release of the single 'Penthouse Hell' as well as a full-on punked out dance pop performances in every major city. The Hell on Heels Tour begins this October!
