NOT AGAINST MY OWN is the follow up CD to Dulahans self titled debut release in 2003. This compilation of original contemporary Celtic music pays appropriate homage to the traditional roots and styles that have influenced the band members over the years .
The individual tracks again showcase the songwriting quality of this Ohio based foursome .Historically accurate ballads of the Irish struggle for independance and the Irish American involvement in the American Civil War , are blended seamlessly with fresh new tongue-in-cheek pub tunes and wistful songs of lost love and compromised dreams . Also included are a couple energetic original instrumental sets featuring the the Irish whistles , Scottish Small Pipes and traditional Highland Pipes that are a intergal part of the unique Dulahan sound .

Great tunes and good piping!
author: Larry F - a PIPER from Texas!
I just read the review of this album from the "guy from Texas" and felt compelled to write a review of my own. I have to admit that I take some exception to the "Guy from Austin"'s review. Also being from Texas and having lived in Austin, I'm MORE than a "great fan" of the pipes--I'm a successful competition piper who has seen Dulahan perform many times and own some CDs. For the record, Dulahan is a very talented band that features excellent songwriting, top-notch musicianship, astounding vocal talent, and good piping. The piper is good...and in fact, BETTER than many pipers I've heard in trad bands. The piping compliments already superb music. If you you're a fan of Celtic music and don't have a Dulahan CD in your collection, you're missing out!!! You'll enjoy ALL the tracks!!!

Great tunes...horrible bagpiping
author: Just a Guy from Austin, TX
I caught a Dulahan show while visiting Dayton, OH several months ago. They are a talented band with great original tunes and a GREAT stage show! I bought the CD. Great vocals and instrumentation...that is until the pipes started playing. When I heard them live, I thought that the piper was simply having an off night. However, once I listened to the CD, I had to queue forward to the next track once the Highland pipes started...and I realized that the piper is just not very good. It should be noted that I'm a great fan of the Highland pipes...and it should also be noted to the piper's credit that he also played the whistle at the show--and played well (I assume he's also playing whistle on the CD--and it sounds great). OVERALL: Great CD if you skip past the tracks with piping! (Luckily, there's only a couple of them)
