Album Notes

Anyone familiar with Django Reinhardt and the world of Gypsy jazz recognizes Gadjo as the term Gypses use to describe non Gypsies, those belonging to the other world, the outsiders.., We certainly felt like outsiderswhen we decided to move from France to California a few years ago. Little did we know that within a few months we would be welcomed with open arms by the Bay Area\'s own Gypsy jazz community (our fellow Gadjis!). Over the past few years we\'ve had the opportunity to meet , jam, and perform with a lot of great musicians, many whom we now count as friends. It is our privilege to present a few of them to you on this cd.

I heard them live...

I read in the Benicia paper that this duet would be appearing live at Ozcat Radio in Vallejo, CA today, Sunday 11-9-08. I am a DJ at Ozcat so I made it a point to go to have a listen. Being a long time fan of "Gypsy Jazz" I was very excited! From the moment they started warming up at the station I was drawn to go to where they were and listen. Wow, wow, wow!!! They did a live interview with DJ Jeremy and played quite a few songs. They are reallllllllly really good! I was totally excited to hear such an authentic and talented couple! I could have listened to them all night...they play together so well and her voice is like silk. Their rhythm and timing is right on and Jeff's extensive training in France was evident by his stunning guitar solos...Their guitars are so important to their distinct sound, it was fun to hear about them and where they came from. I am a dancer and it was all I could do to remain seated...Buy the CD and try to see them live... Yay Yay!!!!!!

I have been listening to this album every chance I get. Isabelle Fontaine delivers marvelous vocals, arrangements are interesting and fresh, and the guest musicians all deliver a unique voice which greatly adds to the overall experience. Well done!

My husband Mark bought this CD for me. I\'m a jazz singer myself and loved this. Very excited about having a singer over the \'Hot Jazz\', quite unusual over hear, to hear singers over that style of music. Have road tested it every day for some time now and still really enjoying it, so atmospheric. Particularly like the version of La Vie En Rose, the musicians are fantastic and the changes of rhythm work beautifully, with Isabelles fresh bright vocals floating easily over. Fantastic. Would love to see them live, but I guess they don\'t get to Yorkshire much!
